Lake Jocassee is located in Oconee County South Carolina, 3 miles north of Scenic Hwy 11. It is a pristine lake of nearly 8000 acres surrounded by mountains and the Sumter National Forest.  Several rivers and creeks feed into the lake along with numerous spectacular waterfalls.  Nine and one half miles long, it extends into North Carolina with over 75 miles of public access shoreline.  Watersports abound here May through September.  In addition to the incredible scenery  Lake Jocassee is home to state and world fishing records. The ”Foothills Trail” stretches from Oconee State Park to Table Rock State Park crossing Lake Jocassee at three different points. This allows for half-day, full day and over night hiking between the Jocassee trail head access points.  Crystal clear and 400 feet deep, Lake Jocassee is also a premier destination for swimming and scuba diving. The Jocassee Outdoor Center (JOC) is located at Lake Jocassee and has been serving the tourism industry here for almost 30 years with a country store that offers boat rentals (pontoons, fishing & ski boats) kayak and canoe rentals, lake & waterfall tours, hiking shuttles,  guided fishing, boat storage and a boating concierge service in addition to food, grocery, and general merchandise. 

Job Description:

JOC is hiring active outdoor-oriented individuals to pull boats to and from Lakes Jocassee and Keowee, assist in boating operations, work with customers and perform general maintenance tasks such as cleaning boats & mowing grass on our 15 acre campus and other interests in the area. With a primary focus on safety, Individuals should have enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a deep appreciation for the outdoor lifestyle. Prior boating/outdoor experience and great communication/people skills are a must.  Please contact Services Manager Ray Hawkins for more information.

JOC also needs friendly customer-oriented individuals to work inside the country store, with a focus on foodservice, grocery & gifts/general merchandise and rental reservations. 

Driver licenses and good driving record required for all positions.

JOC is a Drug Free environment.  We do conduct random drug tests on all employees.

Hours:
JOC is open 7 days a week from 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM Nov–May and 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM May–Oct. The hours required for this position are open for discussion, but will include weekends and of course Holidays.

Retail Sales Associate

Job Description:
We have an immediate opening for a retail sales associate. We have a fun and growing business located by Lake Jocassee and knowledge of Jocassee and Keowee and a passion for boating, fishing and/or outdoor activities are big pluses. The store gets busy and it can be hard work, but the right candidate will enjoy the interaction with friendly customers and working in a beautiful area. Team works together and treats each other like family. You are the face to our customer so excellent communication skills, outgoing personality and positive attitude is a must.

Duties:

  • Helps customers by providing information on products and services; answers questions; obtains merchandise requested by customers; receives merchandise selected by customers.
  • Displays merchandise by stocking shelves, counters, racks, and tables.
  • Promotes sales by setting up advertising displays.
  • Prices merchandise by stamping, marking, and tagging.
  • Obtains payments by processing cash, checks, sales discounts, and credit cards via point of sale (POS) system.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Prior retail experience is preferred.
