Trout Tournament Results

Sixty-seven anglers including four kids enjoyed a great day on the lake. Conditions were perfect for trout fishing and Zan Maddox (Rock Hill) took top honors with a 5.06 lb Brown Trout and pocketed $597 for his efforts. Shay Wistrom (Greenville) took second with 4.91 lbs, Brant Masters (Greenville) took third with 4.79 lbs, Will Kubler (Greenville) took fourth with 4.34 lbs and Warren Page (Simpsonville) captured fifth with 4.33 lbs. In the youth division, Josh Kubler (12) caught a 1.14 Rainbow. Josh was the youth champion last year and is well positioned to retain his title this year.

The last tournament of the season will be next month on April 11.  This is going to be on e the most exciting tournaments we have ever had at Lake Jocassee due to the amount of money to be paid out. Since there were no fish weighed in at the November tournament, we rolled the $1,100 pot over to April. This will be a winner take all pot, so the combined pot is expected to be around $3,000. In addition to that, we have been running an accumulative Big Fish pot that is currently at $2,225 and is expected to top $3,000 in April. All this means that we will be handing out over $6,000 and it is entirely possible that one angler could walk away with over $4,000 cash.

The Jocassee Outdoor Center will be sponsoring a free BBQ for all tournament anglers at the conclusion of the tournament.
