For almost 30 years, JOC (formerly Hoyetts) has sponsored annual Trout tournaments at Lake Jocassee. These tournaments have become a tradition among trout fishermen not only for the fishing competition, but also for the camaraderie. The ultimate goal, above and beyond the tournament money, is to bring home the “wood” (the tournament championship wooden trophy plaque). All of our tournaments are for the biggest fish caught so everyone has a fair chance of winning. After all, it only takes one fish and that one could be yours! Come join in the fun and test your skills and luck against your fellow trout anglers.
The former Jimmie Orr, was a legendary figure around Lake Jocassee and was the former owner of Hoyetts Grocery & Tackle (now known as JOC) In honor of Jimmie, JOC started the Jimmie Orr Championship in 2005. 2009 - 2010 Tournament Schedule:
* All Tournaments will start at 8:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM
· November 14th - $40 per person
· December 12th - $40 per person
· January 16th - $40 per person
· February 13th - $40 per person
· March 13th - $40 per person
· April 10th - $40 per person
Big Fish Pot:
· $10 per person per tournament
· You must fish in at least two tournaments to qualify.
· 100% Payback for big fish tournament
Payout
· First Place –50 percent of award pot
· Second Place –30 percent of award pot
· Third Place –20 percent of award pot
Kids Under 16 Years Old Fish Free in ALL Tournaments
· Prizes for 1st – 3rd Place
· End of year Youth Division Champion will receive a Championship Trophy
